A New Home for the Brinkleys!

A New Home for the Brinkleys!

The Brinkley's have moved from Austin, Tx across the country to Northern Virginia! This is where Matt (my husband and business partner) grew up. We moved here to be closer to Matt's parents, and are loving it! Especially right now as so many bulbs and trees are blossoming; it's a beautiful and auspicious time for a fresh start!

This isn't our new home, just one of the lovely historic buildings in this ridiculously charming Colonial town.

I think daffodils have to be the most joyful of flowers. As someone who grew up in Texas, they feel like such a delightful novelty, and I'm LOVING seeing them all over town.

We're staying in an Air B&B while we close on and renovate our new house. We were only in town for 2 weeks before we found and snagged the most darling house that we can't wait to move into, but needs a little TLC before we do.

We're also finalizing negotiations on a beautiful space to house the Shannon Brinkley Studio! It is walking distance from our home and in a great spot, PLUS is a beautiful old Victorian home that was a hotel in the 1800s. It has tall ceilings, crown molding, and a kitchen for my fabric dyeing!

I can't wait to spread out and make this as functional and creative a space as possible. So leave a comment below with your best studio organization tips and tricks and we'll give you a peak behind the scenes and share lots of photos as we set up our new studio space

I have three sets of ikea book shelving that made organizing fabrics, books, patterns, etc. so much easier Having a constructed table built to my specifications was so ideal too. A large walk in closet houses lots of fabrics and sewing gear
Lots of luck to you and your family!

Congratulations on your recent move! I use bins that open from the top and in front to store my stash!

when I re-organized my studio I bought Ikea cabinets with doors, it has to be the extra deep cabinets as I have a ton of Accuquilt dies and some wouldn’t fit otherwise, the deep cabinets are not sold with doors so I added them, I got 3 sets and already I took the doors off of one set because my pretty fabrics were behind doors and it was too stark and not inspiring! I have my yardage now visible and my scraps are color coordinated in shoe boxes and visible too! (and my threads too for the long arm) the rest are behind doors :) I have a half height wire shelf- like commercial kitchens or garages have – the full sized ones were my storage before but kind of a mess, the half height one I have a board on top that’s covered with batting and fabric and it’s my ironing station, it fits more than a WOF across and my oliso iron and the depth is more than a FQ so maybe 20-22" a bit more than the shelves. Then under that I have snap lid bins with UFOs in them and again it’s a visual reminder to get them done. I also have a design wall and just yesterday got a nifty pull down thing for my backdrop to take pictures of quilts!

Congratulations and welcome to Leesburg!! We love it here and you did pick a beautiful time of year to move. Will you be a storefront too? We have a nice quilt shop in Ashburn (15 min east) and in Frederick (25 min north) as well as a small shop in town. Good luck with the move.
