I am super excited to share about a method that allows you to "draw on fabric"!
In The Meander Quilt Guild, we explore a new quilt-making style each month and last month, we explored Bias Tape Applique! We learned from a guest teacher, national teacher, author, and award-winning quilter, Debbie Grifka.
Debbie brings a modern, minimalist take to this technique, that is really inspiring in it's simplicity. (All of the quilts in this post were made by Debbie!) 
Debbie draws a lot of inspiration from architecture, particularly lines found in architecture. This quilt (Canterbury) was based on a photograph she took while visiting England.
This quilt is based on a photograph of 100+ year-old masonry she saw on her son's dormitory when dropping him off at college. I love how Debbie zooms in on tiny details, then expands those details into a quilt with a lot of negative space to set it off. Also, how lovely is it to capture a moment from such a special day!
Bias-Tape Applique is so simple (especially how Debbie taught us in Meander), but allows for SO many creative possibilities. My wheels were spinning with so many ideas at the end of class.
I love how Debbie extended and echoed the design in the quilting in this quilt below.

Stunning artwork with bias!!! I was given a large container of bias tape – mostly red along with millions of new buttons. So being a sewer, quilter and crafter, I started looking for ideas to use them. You’ve given me great inspiration to get busy on some art work. Thank you!!
