Dryad Blog Hop + Giveaways Galore!

Dryad Blog Hop + Giveaways Galore!

I am very excited to kick off the Dryad Blog Hop today! The next 2 weeks will be filled with giveaways and fabric goodness. See below for the schedule to follow along; each day we'll be giving away fabric, there will be a chance to win a copy of my book as well as a box of my Aurifil Thread collection! I wanted to share a bit about the inspiration behind Dryad. This is my first fabric line, and was inspired by my eternal love of trees. Dryads were Greek mythological spirits of the trees, and this collection explores the different textures and shapes you'll see in a forest.

The wood-grain print was created from a block print of the cross section of 2 different trees; We loved it so much that it is in 4 different colors! The text print is my handwriting and is the poem "Into My Own", by Robert Frost. It has always been a favorite of mine. Being an applique quilt designer, I was really excited to design this line with applique in mind, and particularly with my technique, Scrappy Applique, in mind. All of the prints work really well collaged together, and the 10th print in each colorway is a collage of the previous 9! So, you can achieve my Scrappy Applique look with a bit less work. ;)

There are also a couple low volume prints which make for great backgrounds. Check out the wall from my Quilt Market booth, all the quilts have a low volume background/binding-- I think it made for a cool effect.

I'm really pleased with how the collection turned out, and am excited for you to see more of it these next 2 weeks! The collection is available now, you can ask your local quilt shop to order it (if they don't already carry it), also, Angela Walters is carrying it in her new shop and is offering 10% off the line during the blog hop! Use the code DRYAD at checkout. Be sure to follow along with the hop for more chances to win fabric, books, and Aurifil thread!

I follow Inspired by Fabric on Pinterest and also in Old Reader.
Your fabrics are the most exciting that I’ve seen in a long time! I also love trees, leaves and applique (though I do hand applique). I’d like to hand quilt along the lines of your fabric designs—the texture would be great with your inspiring fabrics. Thanks so much.

Follow them on bloglovin. This is such a beautiful line- the poem is amazing (love when I can actually read a text print!) and the cross section stamped print is amazing!
