Modern Applique Illusions Blog Tour

Modern Applique Illusions Blog Tour

Today I have the pleasure of being apart of the Modern Applique Illusions Blog Tour! Modern Applique Illusions by Casey York just came out and is breathtaking!
Blog-Tour-Badge
Casey plays with perspective to create really lovely and dynamic quilt designs.  I had the pleasure of meeting Casey at quilt market this year, and she is such a sweetheart with a strong passion and drive for this craft. I love the illusion and depth she creates with the projects in her book: each is lovelier than the last! I especially love how she hand embroiders around a lot of the raw edges.

Upward When Casey asked me to be apart of her blog tour, she allowed me to choose which project to make. This was a tough choice, but Flight Plan ultimately won my heart.
Flight Plan
I love everything about it, from the curvy, billowing clouds, to the quilting. I loved the color scheme so much that I couldn't stray too far from the colors she chose. I did add a scrappy sky, just to see the effect.
Shannon's Flight Plan Quilt

It is teeny tiny. It is 25% of the pattern size-- so around 7.5" x 10". The planes are itty bitty and pretty sweet. Now it's giveaway time! Casey is giving away a copy of her wonderful book! Just leave a comment about your thoughts/experience with applique. Is it a scary word? Do you love it? Hate it? Eager to try it out?  **Giveaway closed**

Check out the other stops on the tour (each person made a different project from the book) as well as Casey's blog for more giveaways every day of the tour!

I love the way other people’s applique looks but I’m still working on getting it right! Because I really love it, I know I’ll get better. I did love the projects in this book and I can see myself trying them out. Thanks for the giveaway.

I have to admit that I haven’t done very much applique as it tends to intimidate me although I am an accomplished piecer. I’m enjoying seeing all the quilts from the book and thinking about all the possibilities that I could sew from it. kthurn@bektel.com

I really like applique; how it looks, and doing it. Still learning…

Love your mini! This project is going on my to-do list for sure! hehe. I love applique and have done it all ways. Earlier this year, a friend and I were blessed to be able to take an applique class from Pearl Periera and learned the starch method. Awesome teacher and great class.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.
